Community is at the heart of the Lake Bluff Public Library’s mission, and we’re always looking for new ways to collaborate with local businesses and organizations. Some of our current partnerships include:
Davey Tree Expert Company
Their generosity funded our Learning Garden installation, Seed Library continuation, and the Grow-Your-Own-Pizza-Kit prize for the 2022 Children’s Summer Reading Club.
Elawa Farm Foundation and Lake Bluff Open Lands Association
Together we offer free gardening workshops and other hands-on educational programs.
Gorton Center
The Library partners with Gorton Center on programs that bring our communities together, including the annual Read Between the Ravines series and the Phyllis Fox Memorial Celebration. Gorton Center has also hosted our annual family Movie Night, giving families the opportunity to enjoy a free movie in the state-of-the-art John and Nancy Hughes Theater.
Lake Bluff 125 Committee
The Library partnered with the Lake Bluff 125 Committee and other local organizations to celebrate the Village’s quasquicentennial, providing marketing and programming support and coordinating the Lake Bluff Birthday Bash hosted by the Lake Bluff Park District. The collaboration continued for three years, bringing community organizations together for an annual celebration of Lake Bluff.
Lake Bluff Brewing Company
Lake Bluff Brewing Company has been a longtime Library partner, collaborating with us on community events like Trivia Night, hosting fundraising events in support of the Library, and giving back through Totally Booked, a special brew that donates $1 from every pint sold to Library programs.
Lake Bluff Park District:
Through our partnership with the Park District, we present regular storytimes at the Park District Preschool, join in the annual Trunk or Treat event, host an Outdoor Movie Night each October (complete with hot cocoa), and maintain a Little Free Library outside the Recreation Center that we restock monthly with discarded Library books.
Lake Bluff Strong
We partnered with this coalition of local groups and residents to share COVID-19 updates, resources, and virtual events during the pandemic response.
Lake Forest Library
Through our partnership with Lake Forest Library, we co-host Read Between the Ravines, a two-community, one-nonfiction reading program with author visits, alongside Gorton Community Center, History Center of Lake Forest–Lake Bluff, Dickinson Hall, Lake Forest College, and Lake Forest Book Store.
School District 65
In partnership with District 65, the Library brings storytimes to Lake Bluff Elementary School and collaborates on outreach and programming throughout the year. District 65 has also partnered with us on our annual Summer Reading Club and the Phyllis Fox Memorial Celebration. Together with District 65 and the Lake Bluff Park District, we have also co-hosted StoryWalk over multiple summers, installing a children’s story along a local park trail for families to enjoy.
Village of Lake Bluff
Hosts our Storytime on the Green at the Lake Bluff Farmers Market select Fridays, June through August; check the Library’s event calendar for select dates.
