Accessibility at the Library
The Lake Bluff Public Library is committed to making the Library, our collections, programs, services, and digital resources accessible to everyone. We offer a variety of accessibility features and resources to help reduce barriers to using the Library.
If you have an accessibility need, encounter a barrier, or need assistance while visiting the Library, participating in a program, or using Library services, please contact us. We are happy to work with you to make your Library experience as accessible as possible.
Visiting the Library
The Library offers the following accessibility features:
- A designated accessible parking space located on Scranton Avenue on the south side of the street, directly in front of the Library’s main entrance
- A ramp providing an accessible route to the Library entrance
- Automatic entrance doors
- An elevator providing access to all three levels of the Library, including the lower-level program space
- Accessible restrooms with automatic doors on the main floor
Service animals are welcome in the Library.
Sensory Resources
Sensory kits are available in Youth Services for use in the Library. The kits include tools designed to support a variety of sensory needs.
Library Social Story
Our Library Social Story provides a visual walkthrough of the Library to help you become familiar with the building before your visit. See where things are located, what Library spaces look like, and what you can expect when you arrive.
Accessible Formats
The Library provides materials in a variety of physical and digital formats, including large print books, audiobooks, eBooks, and eAudiobooks. Available formats vary by title.
If you are looking for an item or format that is not currently available in our collection, you can submit a purchase suggestion.
Web Accessibility
The Lake Bluff Public Library strives to ensure that everyone has access to our full range of collections, programs, events, meetings, and services.
The Library has selected the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Level AA, as its accessibility standard and strives to conform to these guidelines to make our website and digital services accessible to all users.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier when using the Library’s website or digital services, have concerns about physical or technological accessibility, or would like to request a reasonable accommodation, please contact the Library Director.
We will work with you to provide effective communication, accessible content, and reasonable accommodations that address your needs.
